Recent project examples

Climate Change:

	Providing advice and guidance on climate change adaptation and mitigation, such as the Adapting to Climate Change: Local areas’ action and Improving your home: A Climate Change Guide for householders;
	Helping local authorities to develop climate change strategies, for example in Gloucestershire, Liverpool, Bedfordshire, Sefton and Ashfield;
	Researching the impacts of climate change, for example Helen recently managed a review of the social impacts of climate change and adaptation responses; and
	Delivering training on climate change, such as the West Yorkshire Climate Change Leadership Academy.

Sustainable Development:

	Producing guidance on delivering sustainable development, such as guidance on Improving Poor Environments and Sustainable Community Strategies to help Environment Agency staff in their partnership work at a local level;
	Researching approaches to delivering sustainable development, for example Helen co-managed Capability for Local Sustainability, a report for the Sustainable Development Commission examining local authorities and Local Strategic Partnerships’ work to deliver sustainable development and evaluated the Sustainable Development Action Plans of 27 voluntary and community sector organisations, as part of the Every Action Counts evaluation for Defra;
	Delivering training on sustainable development, e.g. for Luton Dunstable Partnership on sustainable development; and
	Appraising the sustainability aspects of strategies, plans and policies, such as the East of England Regional Economic Strategy and the Aylesbury Vale Local Development Framework Core Strategy.
