Prior to rejoining CAG, Alison was Community Involvement Manager for Envolve Partnerships for Sustainability, based in Bath, with responsibility for a team working on sustainability projects and programmes at a community and neighbourhood level (2002 – 2004). She worked for CAG between early 2000 and 2002, for the New Economics Foundation as a Senior Researcher (1997 – 2000) where she specialised in stakeholder involvement processes and social auditing, and as a Community Development Officer for the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (1994 – 1996) where she worked on community-based open space projects.

Alison has a Masters in Professional Studies in Sustainable Development with Forum for the Future, a Masters in Rural Resources and Environmental Policy from Wye College (then part of London University) and a BSc (Hons) in Geography from Leicester University. Alison is a trustee for the Centre for Sustainable Energy in Bristol.

Alison’s recent and current work includes:

  • Bedfordshire County Council (2007). Managed the development of a Climate Change adaptation and mitigation strategy and action plan for Bedfordshire County Council.
  • Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council (2007). Alison recently worked with Sefton MBC to develop and facilitate a workshop for members of the Local Strategic Partnership to initiate the development of a Climate Change Action Plan.
  • South East England Regional Assembly (2007). Updating the Regional Compendium of Strategies to support the review of the South East England Integrated Regional Framework.
  • Defra Sustainable Development Unit, Every Action Counts (2005 – 2006). Alison managed the design of an evaluation framework for the Every Action Counts programme, which is now being rolled out. Alison is continuing to do support work as part of this evaluation.
  • Defra Environment, Consumers and Business Division (2005). Alison undertook the evaluation of the Environmental Action Fund which ran from 2002 – 2005 and funded 56 voluntary and community sector organisations.
  • WWF Community Engagement and Sustainable Development Toolkit and Research (2005 – 2006). Alison worked as part of a WWF and CAG team to design, pilot and refine a toolkit to measure the impact of community engagement processes in terms of sustainable behaviour change.
  • Regional Action West Midlands (2005). Alison managed an evaluation of the Regional Strategic Engagement Fund in the West Midlands, together with a strategic review of Regional Action West Midlands. This involved managing, designing and undertaking a consultation process within the community and voluntary sector and partners in the West Midlands.
  • New Opportunities Walthamstow (NOW) 2005. Alison worked as part of the CAG evaluation team on the final evaluation of the Walthamstow NOW SRB scheme.
