Supporting community led action and enterprise
Projects | BTCV and Social Enterprise
CAG Consultants and our specialist associates are working closely with several BTCV offices to review the social care elements of their conservation work and seek Health and Social Care Funding to support this work long term.
The longer term plan is that people who currently come to local BTCV centres will eventually develop local conservation based community enterprises that will enable skills development and offer employment opportunities for people who are often excluded form other employment.
The current thrust of social care policy is a move away from traditional care into care opportunities that provide a more interesting and more fulfilling experience for all participants. BTCV is converting the long terms proven health benefits of conservation work into real opportunities for people with a learning disability or a mental heath problem to learn skills and possibly move into a community enterprise where they are the business leaders.
In the short terms CAG Consultants will develop action plans for each centre; these will lead to funding plans and negotiation with local commissioners. In the longer term feasibility reports for skills training and social enterprises will be developed for each centre.
