Involve, inform and consult
Projects | North West Plan Partial Review
Using a huge range of methods we worked with 4NW on an 18 month long consultation on the North West Plan Partial Review. These stages included the Draft Project Plan, a scoping stage consultation, a consultation on initial draft options and a consultation on the draft options.
The consultees included, members of the public, parish and district councilors, members of the Gypsy and Irish Travellers community and Travelling Showpeople, local authority officers and others.
To ensure that the consultation was effective in seeking out views at all stages, especially the views of those often excluded from consultations we used a good range of methods including for example;
- An interactive and frequently updated consultation web site
- Leaflets, posters, press and newsletters
- Frequent email contact with participants
- A free phone line
- Paper, voice and electronic options for consultee input into the debate
- Appointment of a conultee group liaison worker
Transparent methods of consultation that will stand up to external examination, reaching hard to reach groups and engaging them in meaningful conversations and revealing the structural barriers for marginalized groups within the planning system.
