We are award winners in Liverpool
CAG have helped Liverpool City Council win at the CLASP Climate
Leader Awards! The
Awards are for local authorities on the front line of
delivering exemplary projects to mitigate climate change, make carbon
and financial savings and help adapt to a changing climate. They
aim to share best practice and inspire others to do the same.
Liverpool won the Increasing Local Resilience Category at the
award event on November 2nd 2010 for their adaptation planning work
which has helped them to be one of the 7% of local authorities to
reach level 3 of previous national indicator 188.
The judges were impressed by Liverpool’s work as one of the few
authorities that are identifying adaptation as a key priority area
and are establishing a comprehensive assessment process to both
understand future risk and identify timely options for a response.
The judges also noted the impetus and high level support that was
given to this work through the dedication of 2009 as the Year of
The Environment.
"Liverpool City Council and Liverpool First partners have
enjoyed working in partnership with CAG to develop this piece of
work. The process we have been through has been comprehensive and
effective and has generated a high level of interest and positive
feedback from other public sector bodies."
Christine Darbyshire, Team Leader - Urban Environment Regeneration
CAG have been working with Liverpool City Council and Liverpool
First since 2008 and we are just completing the third phase of a
project to help Liverpool to assess and address potential risks
and opportunities from climate change. We have helped council officers
and partners to prepare detailed risk assessments and action plans
across all Council business units.
