Sustainable development and policy governance
In 1992 Agenda 21 highlighted the need for 'institutional arrangements' to promote sustainable development. Since then there has been growing recognition of the importance of mainstreaming sustainable development into corporate and performance management.
Many organisations have moved from having a few 'sustainable projects', to thinking about how their corporate management structures can best support sustainability across all their activities. CAG has extensive experience of helping organisations to develop and evaluate their arrangements for sustainable development governance and has undertaken significant work on sustainable development at a regional level.
With the abolishment of the Regional Assemblies, the delivery of sustainable development at a regional level is now in unknown territory. The Regional Spatial Strategy and the Regional Economic Strategy will be amalgamated into a Single Regional Strategy. It is unclear what will happen with sustainble development policy at a regional level. CAG has the independence and breadth of experience to support the regional organisations navigate this new policy environment.
