Health

CAG has a strong history in working in the fields of health and social care. In recent years we have focused on community development in the health sector.

This community focus has led to us being involved in a wide range of initiatives which include:

  • Public and Patient involvement
  • Community led needs assessment
  • Training in community develeopment for community nursing staff
  • Developing community responses to inequality in health.

Public and Patient Involvement

We have extensive experience of working in the field of stakeholder and community involvement both within and outside the health sector.

Community led needs assessment

Community needs assessment programme, Leicester

We undertook a major community needs assessment programme in Greater Humberstone, Leicester. This programme incorporated peer interviewers drawn from the local community, focus groups and CAG's research tool, the Field Feedback Model.

Training in community development for community nursing staff

Communicare community development training programme

We designed and delivered a participative training programme introducing community nurses including midwives and health visitors to the concepts and values of community development.

Developing community responses health inequalities

Plymouth Food Strategy

We completed a Food Strategy for Plymouth for the Plymouth Health Action Zone. The strategy considers food production, distribution and consumption. One of the main focuses of the strategy is its contribution to improving health and reducing health inequalities.
